Ya know, Ludington nights at antique, Victorian homes, and Sweet & Dandy acapella
can ONLY be followed by the zoo in T.C. (what timing, eh?!), Boyne City mushroom
festivities (in OH so many ways), which ONLY could be followed by great walks
and talks with Pablo (Ja man, love you), and a curvy Cross Village Legs trek (with
a side of 'shrooms), a bonus of Bliss fest sweethearts (and more morels!) sharing
their kitchen full of treats...A Pam-n-Sam Breakfast with you guys, I hold close
to my heart...Thanks for welcoming my company, always a blast, addicted to you
feelin' GREAT to be ALIVE..Take Care All, Suzy, Kaitlyn, and I hope to see you
in NY sometime in July. Always, Carey

for the great show at the Abbey Pub, Chicago! It
was a treat to see you, and to see all the fans
from scatterd places who found their way to you.
The friends I brought, Fiddler initiates, were sold
on you. We really had a great time. I was glad to
meet some more fans here in Chicago. Much thanks
going out to Jared for finding a place for the band
to jam. I hope I get a chance to see him again.
New friends are welcome discoveries for the new

SO finally I have seen Tom's Burned Down Cafe and
Sculpture Garden. I have heard awesome music played
in a bowling alley and under a tent that magically
changes color, from blue on super days to starry at
night, with options of actual 100% humidity at times--Tom,
you should patent that one. At Tom's, the people,
music and decor keep the natural airflow from being
quite so noticeable, especially when the wildturkey
dancers are on stage with Dick and the guys. The music
just got better as the tour progressed--so glad I
was able to catch so much of it this time. The group
was really tight musically and it is a continuing
treat to listen.(Okay, I am a tad prejudiced, but
if you doubt any of this, go back to the schedule
and arrange to catch a few sets yourself!)Sallie D'Asaro

Hey folks, this is the Fiddler talking. I know
it's my own website and guestbook, but I wanted to
report briefly on our first Midwest Tour 2001, so
here goes: The band was Steve and Phil Minnich, the
road warrior twins, Dennis D'Asaro, the alphageek,
and special guest from th e Caribbean Pablo Prosper.
Pablo played all manner of percussion, including the
Cajun "frattoire" (rub-board), as well as leading
some great reggae music. We started at the Legion
Hall in Hillsdale, MI with a fabulous night of entertainment
and dancing, and were hosted sumptuously by Paul and
Linda Solomon. From there we ran to St Louis, MO where
we were hosted by Hudson & the Hoodoo Cats, who took
us to the top of the famous arch, as well as setting
us up at a jam with Big Bamou at the Broadway Oyster
Bar (where we'll play next summer.) Then it was on
to our favorite town in America, Kansas City. We stay
with my old pal Chuck Silva and his wife Mardi who
treat us like emperors! Great meals, jam sessions
on the porch, gigs everywhere. Mardi even had the
piano tuned. Rich Kenney, owner of The Peanut(s) -we
play three of them- sent me off with a fine neon Leinenkugel
beer sign, which now hangs proudly on the wall of
our Norwegian summer cottage in Chetek, WI. At Zig's
Pig #17, Hudson and the Hoodoo Cats -friends from
the Caribbean- came and opened the show, and we alternated
sets on the grand stage. There were family and friends,
about 500, and the best weather ever. Guest musicians
jammed til the wee hours. Next leg of the tour was
Minnesota and Wisconsin. We had to get longjohns for
Pablo. One highlight was a show we played for juniors
at the "Zoo School,"the School for Environmental Studies
in St Paul, who gave us a standing ovation. We saw
many friends and fans from the Caribbean. The final
leg took us across the top of Michigan, the "UP,"
or "Upper Penninsula," where we caught the full moon
rising over Lake Michigan just beforewe watched the
Philadelphia 76-ers beat the LA Lakers in the opening
of the NBA finals. The final gigs were in Ludington,
MI at Michael's Bar. We had a blast there, and staying
at Doobie Di's fabulous mansion on the water capped
it all. Jammed til sunrise on that great Steinway
grand. Any tour with the Sun Mountain Band makes me
say once again: ain't it great to be alive! Thank
you all. Fiddler

Made me smile. Bob and I are still hoping for an Alabama

Dick, hello. How are you? We met once or twice,
but I cannot remember where. I was just telling my
buddy that I have a friend named Seth Ramsdill who
used to play with you. We were just looking through
some old Phish bootlegs, and we came across May 93

one thing led to another and we ended up at your site,

Just a note to say that we thoroughly enjoyed your
show in Chapel Hill, NC on November 10. It was nice
having the opportunity to chat with members of the
group over dinner at the Holiday Inn. You guys obviously
have lots of fun doing what you do, and that's more
than can be said for the majority of the population.
Just a reminder--Asheville, NC would be a great place
for you to land some gigs. You would undoubtedly find
enthusiastic and receptive audiences there, as your
musical style would be a perfect fit for the area.
You should also come to Charlotte, where we live,
as this city would also be quite amenable to what
your group brings to the table. In fact, southern
cities, in general, would be great places for your
form of entertainment. There's no doubt that you guys
have mastered the art of entertaining to a science.
And we'll close by simply saying--"keep on keeping
on," and continue expanding your musical horizons
to ever greater proportions!! With your talent, the
sky is the limit!!

I just came across you playing the Tennessee Waltz with Phish back in '93. I had never heard that particular version before, and I must say, I thought it was beautiful. Thank you!

Anyway, we just wanted to say "hi" and let you know we are still enjoying your music.

Hi Dick, My husband Ron and I have been fans of yours for many years, since the days when we used to see you play at the "Post Office Cafe" in Provincetown, MA. We used to take the kids to the Cape every summer for years and we always came to hear you play and always enjoyed it immensely. Your brother, Andy, taught my son, Tristan, how to play piano and guiter. We wish you could do more gigs in Massachusetts. It's really great that you have a web site now.

Just got your card today. I haven't seen you since you and the guys did the gig at Barnical Bill's down in St. Thomas. Damn...that was three boats and at least 40 hurricanes ago!
Got your site on my favorites list and will be checking back often. Check out the art work I have on my sites...but don't let your better half catch you in my adult areas!
Email to follow.

Hi Dick!I LOVE "Ridin' High"! My husband introduced it to me years ago when we were dating and we have beaten the poor tape to death on many road trips to Maine! My brother in law owned the tape first then my husband got hold of it! We have had many good times listening to it. Andy (my hubby) and I are both musicians so we can really appreciate the title cut! Man, can we relate to, "I'm a music makin' man ridin' home in my van"! We love you and desperately need a new copy of "Ridin' High". Hopefully on disc. On another note, we recently attended a friend's wedding in September and the band was awesome. Well, we were told by the guest who booked the band that the guitar player was your brother!! Well, as soon as we found that out we were up at the stage introducing ourselves and meeting your brother! I was honored. What a sweetheart he is. And one smokin' musician I might add! Andy got up and sang "Johnny B Good" with them. That was a real blast! So, we are going to come hear you sometime at The Red Lion. Take care now and keep on fiddlin'. Thanks for the Tuneage! XOXO Aimee
